Southampton Airport celebrates rise in passenger numbers

11 July 2008

The first six months of 2008 have been the busiest ever in Southampton Airport’s 98 year history. Over 957,000 passengers have breezed through the airport, visiting one of 43 possible destinations. In the last month alone, the airport welcomed 187,274 passengers, an increase of 1.6% on the same month last year.

In response to passenger demand, Channel Islands airline, Blue Islands, will be increasing capacity on flights to and from Guernsey, by an additional 12 flights per week from 10 July. The airline now offers two fares on the Southampton route; off peak single at £52 including all taxes and airport charges, and a peak fare of £67.

Looking ahead, Inghams have launched an early booking ski package deal. Passengers can save £50 per person on departures from Southampton to Austria & Switzerland departing on 27 December 2008.
